Joeri Denayer

Joeri Denayer

Brussels University, Belgium

Joeri Denayer is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). His research expertise lies in adsorption technology and porous materials, with a particular focus on sustainable separation processes, the recovery of renewable chemicals, and the intensification of CO₂ capture technologies.

His research group investigates adsorption, transport, and separation phenomena in porous materials, develops models for cyclic adsorption-based separation processes, and explores structure–selectivity relationships in adsorption. The team also works on gas and liquid purification technologies and designs and operates laboratory-scale and pilot-scale adsorption units.

More recently, Professor Denayer has pioneered the development of electrified adsorption processes, employing advanced heating technologies such as magnetic induction, microwave, and resistive heating. His work also includes the design of hybrid structured adsorbents tailored for these innovative processes. He has authored or co-authored more than 300 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
