University of Birmingham, UK

Ali Mehmanparast (PhD, MBA, CEng, CMgr) is Professor of Offshore Renewable Energy Structures at the University of Birmingham, UK. His current research focuses on the design and integrity management of offshore renewable energy assets, working closely with industrial designers, operators, and consultants, as well as academic experts and international standardisation bodies, to support the global transition to net zero. Throughout his career, he has led large-scale high-impact national and international research projects on the failure analysis of engineering structures in harsh environments, with his findings incorporated into international standards such as DNV-RP-C203. Moreover, through academic leadership roles in two successive Centres for Doctoral Training, he has trained over 120 PhD specialists for the Offshore Renewable Energy sector. With over 150 peer-reviewed publications, he also serves as Energy Engineering Subject Editor for Elsevier’s journal of Engineering Failure Analysis and sits on the editorial boards of several leading international journals.
