Randhir Rawatlal is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). His early research focused on mathematical modelling of reaction engineering systems with special interests in non-linear dynamics, chaos theory and population balances. His interests have grown to include Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, with applications in education, model-based control of industrial plants, resource management and waste minimization. As Director of the WASH R&D Centre, various projects involving Data Science, sensors and automated advising are being applied in engineering systems.
