Professor of Curriculum Studies and Interim Director of Teaching and Learning

Nyna Amin is a full professor in the field of Curriculum Studies and the interim director of teaching and learning at UKZN. A National Research Foundation rated social scientist, she is co-founder and an editor of the journal, African Perspectives of Research in Teaching and Learning. She is also an editor of Alternation and serves on the editorial boards of Africa Education Review, and the Journal for Health Research and Society. She is a member of UKZN’s AI task Team and recently appointed as a member of ASSAF’s Artificial Intelligence steering committee. She co-authored a peer-reviewed case study on generative AI governance in higher education published in Frontiers in Political Science. Nyna received the 2025 Award for Outstanding Contribution to School-Based Family Counselling at the Oxford Symposium, Brasenose College, Oxford University.
