University of Virginia Expands Research Resources with LeapSpace™
20 de julio de 2026
The University of Virginia (UVA), a leading public research university, has signed an agreement to bring LeapSpace™, Elsevier’s research-grade AI workspace, to its research community. LeapSpace is designed to support researchers across multiple stages of their research workflow by accelerating discovery, calibrating the strength of the evidence, and supporting critical thinking.
LeapSpace draws on over 20 million full-text peer-reviewed articles and books from Elsevier and over 1,000 content licensing partners, as well as millions of scientific records from 7,000+ publishers on Scopus. Results are grounded in peer-reviewed literature and are linked to underlying sources and citations to support transparency and informed scholarly judgment.
The agreement reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting excellence in research while exploring new technologies that strengthen teaching, learning and discovery. It also underscores the essential role of the University of Virginia Library, whose faculty and staff serve as trusted partners in the university’s research enterprise by connecting scholars with the resources, expertise and services they need throughout the research lifecycle.
Every day, the Library helps faculty, students and researchers navigate an increasingly complex scholarly landscape - curating collections, supporting digital scholarship, advancing open research, preserving knowledge and helping the University community make informed use of emerging technologies. Providing access to LeapSpace builds on that commitment by adding one of many resources available through the University Library to support research, teaching and learning.
Leo S. Lo, Dean of University of Virginia Libraries, said: “UVA faculty, students, and researchers need access to credible scholarly sources and thoughtful support as they assess how emerging AI technologies can contribute to their work. Making LeapSpace available through the University Library gives our community another resource to explore, while keeping critical judgment, transparency and responsible research practices at the center.”
